About this game

Take control of a ravenous amphibian in this action roguelike. Consume everything from tanks to humans, mutate into bizarre forms, and grow.

If you have ever wondered what it would be like to control a creature with an insatiable appetite, Toadled: Eating Frenzy is ready to satisfy that curiosity. This action roguelike drops you into a chaotic world where the primary objective is to consume everything in your path. It serves as a reimagination of a 2016 classic, bringing back the core concept of a growing, mutating amphibian while packing in a massive amount of new content, boss fights, and live events to keep the experience fresh.

Gameplay

The core loop is simple but satisfying: you navigate as an amphibian and devour objects on your path. As you consume items, you grow larger and mutate into new, often disgusting forms. The game is designed to let you ingest almost anything, ranging from human flesh to heavy machinery like police cars, tanks, and even nuclear missiles. While some of these might cause a bit of mild indigestion, they are all fair game for a creature looking to dominate the universe.

You have a flexible upgrade system at your disposal that allows for hundreds of build combinations. You can mix and match items to create bizarre setups, like equipping a turtle shell saw blade or a lightning-charged tongue. With over 20 upgradeable items and 10 stat-buffing mutations, every run offers a fresh opportunity to experiment with new ways to dominate. You will need these upgrades to survive the 40-plus enemy types and tenacious bosses waiting across 20 interconnected levels.

What stands out

What really sets this apart is the sheer absurdity of the mutation system. Each bite makes your character stronger and weirder, leading to a variety of hideous and wondrous forms. It is not just about raw power; it is about the visual and mechanical variety that comes from your diet. Whether you are wondering if a missile causes heartburn or just want to see how big you can get, the game constantly rewards your curiosity with something new to discover.

Beyond the core gameplay, there is a strong focus on customization and long-term goals. You can dress up your character in over 25 different wearable items, including ridiculous hats, which you unlock by completing challenges and rising on the leaderboards. The inclusion of timed live events ensures there is always a reason to come back, offering even more gear to win and secrets to uncover as you master the game's three stages of difficulty.

Who might enjoy it

This title is for players who enjoy the loop of roguelike progression and want something that does not take itself too seriously. If you enjoy experimenting with wild, wacky build combinations and seeing how far you can push a character's growth, you will find plenty to dig into here. It is perfect for those who want to chase high scores on leaderboards or enjoy the challenge of tackling different difficulty stages while unlocking new gear for their character.
