Game details
Manage seven chaotic group chats in this turn-based roguelite. Read messages, issue bans, and avoid FBI intervention to keep your server
If you have ever felt the urge to wield the ban hammer, Mod Complex offers a unique, turn-based roguelite experience centered on the thankless job of moderating group chats that probably should have been shut down years ago. You are dropped into a digital environment where you must manage seven different servers, each filled with their own distinct personalities and drama, all while trying to keep the peace without drawing unwanted attention from federal authorities.
Gameplay revolves around an hourly cycle where new messages flood the chat. You are not given any automated flags, so you must manually read every line to determine who is joking, who is baiting, and who is actively risking the server's safety. Your available tools include approving, deleting, timing out, or banning users, and you must use these wisely to maintain order.
The pressure is constant because any problematic content left on the screen when the hour ends results in a report against your server. If you accumulate too many reports, the server is flagged for the FBI, ending your run. You have to balance these immediate threats while managing the complex social web of 56 regulars across seven servers, where banning the wrong person can trigger a cascade of arguments and retaliation.
Every hour brings fresh waves of messages to process. As you successfully manage the chat, you build streaks and charge mod power to unlock abilities like slowmode, purges, and ban waves. Between shifts, you can spend clout to acquire 19 bots and 9 roles to distribute, helping you climb a five-rung shift ladder. After clearing all seven servers, the difficulty increases for subsequent runs, offering a persistent challenge for those looking to climb the ranks.
What makes this experience stand out is the raw, unguided nature of the moderation. You are forced to read the room entirely on your own, as nothing is flagged for you by the system. You must learn the specific typing patterns, friends, and grudges of the 56 regulars to understand who is actually causing trouble, making the social deduction aspect just as important as the mechanical ban tools.
The game also features a layer of absurdity, such as the rule of the day which might forbid posting ranks, financial advice, or even mentioning raisins. You also have to deal with raids, ban evaders, impostors using similar usernames, and a co-mod who might actively dispute your decisions. You can even find a casino link in the chat, giving you the risky option to gamble your salary on blackjack if you are feeling particularly reckless.
This game is a perfect fit for players who enjoy high-stakes management puzzles and want to test their ability to read social dynamics under pressure. If you appreciate games that reward careful observation and strategic decision-making in a humorous, simulated setting, you will find plenty to engage with here.
