About this game

Step into the shoes of Atlas in Astral Dive, a hand-drawn pixel art RPG featuring strategic deck-building combat and seven unique

If you have a soft spot for the golden age of role-playing games, Astral Dive is looking to capture that classic magic while shaking things up. You step into the role of Atlas, a young mage tasked with investigating a series of mysterious events that once rocked the academy of magic. By crossing through astral portals, you will venture into fascinating, otherworldly dimensions to uncover the truth and ultimately protect your world from whatever threats lie ahead.

Gameplay

The combat system moves away from typical turn-based battles by introducing an original mechanic centered on stellar tiles, which function as your magic cards. You will spend your journey collecting new spells to customize your deck, allowing you to craft lethal synergies. These tools are essential for taking down the bizarre creatures and colossal bosses you encounter across your travels.

Your journey takes you across seven distinct biomes, ranging from enchanted forests to surreal, mystical ruins. Each of these areas offers a unique visual identity and its own set of dedicated enemies, ensuring that every portal you cross presents a fresh challenge for your strategy. As you explore, you will also piece together fragments of lore that help flesh out the world.

You won't be tackling these dimensions alone. Throughout your adventure, you can recruit quirky heroes and powerful allies, each bringing their own unique abilities and personal backstories to the table. By experimenting with different party formations and unlocking special dialogues, you can tailor your experience to suit your specific playstyle.

What stands out

Visually, the game is a love letter to the two-dimensional RPGs of the past. Every frame, from the character animations to the spell effects, is crafted with hand-drawn pixel art. The developers have emphasized that this work is entirely AI-free, aiming to create a vibrant and memorable world through traditional, detailed artistry.

Who might enjoy it

This one is for you if you enjoy deep, tactical combat systems that move beyond the standard turn-based formula. If you appreciate the aesthetic of high-quality, hand-drawn pixel art and enjoy building out a party of unique companions to match your preferred playstyle, you will find plenty to dig into here.
