Navigate a relentless digital feed in SKROLL, a strategic roguelite where you must manage your dopamine, battery, and sleep to survive the
In SKROLL, you are trapped in a cycle where your own brain acts as your primary antagonist. Every day brings a new, demanding requirement to hit a specific dopamine quota, and failing to meet these increasingly difficult targets leads to dire consequences. It is a strategic roguelite that turns the act of digital consumption into a survival challenge, forcing you to balance your internal needs against the relentless pressure of a phone that demands your constant attention.
Your primary interaction is through your phone, where you scroll endlessly to satisfy the demands placed upon you. Each run is structured into cycles of three nights, and your survival during these nights depends entirely on how long your battery or your sleep levels hold out. You must constantly monitor these resources, as the night ends the moment either one is depleted, forcing you to make quick decisions about how to spend your limited time.
As you progress, the videos you choose to watch effectively become your deck. Each video you swipe through carries unique effects that shape your survival strategy, and you can influence the feed by using likes and reports to manipulate the algorithm. This allows you to curate the content you see, though every decision comes with a cost. Successfully hitting your dopamine quota allows you to earn upgrades, new content formats, and minigames that help you survive longer in subsequent cycles.
The game introduces Obsessions, which allow you to build your strategy around specific playstyles. These Obsessions reward your choices and can lead to powerful, broken builds if you lean into them deeply enough. You will need to manage multipliers and discover lethal synergies to keep up with the rising dopamine quotas, as the algorithm pushes you toward increasingly extreme content that requires different tactical approaches to overcome.
SKROLL creates a striking visual contrast by splitting its world into two distinct styles. The room surrounding you is rendered with processed real-world photography, grounding the experience in a tangible, familiar space. In contrast, everything you view through the phone screen is presented in low-poly 3D animation. This design choice effectively captures the jarring disconnect between the physical life you are living and the digital feed that keeps you tethered to the screen.
If you enjoy games that blend survival mechanics with deck-building elements, SKROLL offers a unique premise. It is designed for players who appreciate strategic decision-making under pressure, especially those who want to experiment with building specific feeds and managing resources like battery life and sleep cycles while navigating a high-stakes, infinite digital environment.
