About this game

Build an undead workforce in Bone Idle, an incremental graveyard sim where you automate bone collection across 18 islands and three acts.

If you have ever wondered what it takes to run a graveyard with a bit more efficiency, Bone Idle might just be the project for you. This single-player incremental game tasks you with turning a humble, quiet patch of earth into a bustling, undead operation. You start small, clicking graves to gather resources, but you quickly transition into managing a growing workforce of skeletons. It is all about making those questionable investments that pay off in the long run as you expand your reach across a series of islands.

Gameplay

The core loop starts with you manually clicking graves to collect bones, but you will soon hire your first skeleton to handle the labor for you. As you reinvest those bones into more recruits and upgrades, you can choose to buy everything you can afford in a single click to keep your momentum going. Your skeletons are industrious, digging their own patches, hauling bones to the depot, and feeding the machinery that keeps your graveyard running.

Each island features its own unique machinery that evolves in three distinct stages as your workforce grows. You can watch as winches drag coffins from the earth, chutes funnel bones into place, and crucibles pour while hammers strike and chimneys smoke. It is a satisfying process to observe, especially since you can use the free camera to zoom in and watch your skeletons earn their keep as they manage the steady income for you.

When you encounter a guardian blocking your path, the game shifts into an arena phase. You must cut, parry, and break seals while calling on battle powers to strike hard once the guardian is vulnerable. Earning medals for these encounters provides permanent production boosts, and you can eventually perform a Great Ritual to reset your progress in exchange for runes. These runes allow you to grow a massive ritual tree with 31 nodes, offering permanent upgrades to your production, powers, and missions.

What stands out

The visual progression is a real highlight, as you can see banners and bone heaps physically spreading across each island as you conquer them. The way the machinery grows alongside your workforce gives you a clear, visual indicator of your success, turning a simple graveyard into a sprawling, industrial undead site.

The game respects your time by allowing for offline earnings, counting up to eight hours of production while you are away. This ensures that even when you aren't actively managing your skeletons, your graveyard continues to generate resources, making sure there is always another recruit waiting for you to save up for upon your return.

Who might enjoy it

This one is perfect if you enjoy watching complex systems grow from nothing into a well-oiled machine. If you like the idea of balancing active clicking with long-term automation and watching your progress persist even when you step away, you will find plenty to keep you busy. It is built for players who appreciate the satisfaction of watching a workforce scale up and seeing their production numbers climb over time.
